Caleb Wayman, Composer

Hailing from the great state of Michigan, Caleb Wayman has been making music since he was a child. Schooled at home in his youth, Caleb learned his love of music from his parents and attended OHMI: an organization that brought homeschoolers, and anyone else without a music program, together to learn music. He sang in choir and played in band and orchestra throughout his elementary to high-school career. He began piano lessons at the age of 9 and quickly fell in love with the instrument. Caleb attended Oakland University in Michigan for his undergrad where he graduated with a degree in Vocal Performance. However, deciding he didn't want the life of a vocal performer, he turned to his other great love, which he had continued through undergrad: piano. Caleb attended the University of Illinois and received his masters in Vocal Coaching and Accompanying.

Caleb has composed since elementary school, though he has professed that no one shall ever see those earliest pieces. He continued to compose habitually through highschool and college. He wrote primarily for himself on piano or for vocalist friends. Several of his works were conditioned by and premiered on friends recitals. Caleb has been branching out back into his symphonic roots and seeks to better himself and his compositions through hard work and great collaborations.
